“Sluggo Snares a Vampire” by Rick R. Reed is my first read by this author. I’ve seen his books on Amazon and Goodreads and they looked interesting. This book was and still is free as a Kindle Version on Amazon and I thought this would be a good place to start to get to know this author's work. I‘m happy to say I was not disappointed. This a a very short read, approximately 22 pages. I found it witty, dark, suspenseful and cleverly written. There’s a lot of substance in this short story, LGBT horror/suspense. This author has done some amazing work and once again with a short story he leaves you wanting more. It takes a special person to be able to captivate you with a short novella and make you want to know more. He has done this and so much more.
While a 19 page short story and a fun read, I wished this were longer.
It is a hoot! Somewhat in the "be careful what you wish for" vein, the author's imagination runs wild. Sluggo in desperate need of a life, gets far more than he bargained for with "his" vampire. I am not going to give away the ending. It is much too good to spoil.
There is a lot packed into these 19 pages. Hiding behind an on-line persona can have consequences, even with the best intentions. With that said, be careful when inviting a professed vampire into your cyber life.
This is not your happy ever ending book , but the author does keep it real and to the point.
Ok, not what I excepted, could be longer and develop the characters. It is a essay not a book. Thank you
Short but well done story about internet gay addict. I'm not going to say much about cause I really don't want to ruin it for anyone. Well done...
Short and kind of spooky, this won't chill a horror fanatic to the bone but it had an interesting premise.
I like clever short stories and dislike graphic horror stories so this was an entertaining little diversion. The story progressed nicely and was well written.
An interesting concept of a digital vampire and catfishing, though it was brief enough to not really explain much of anything and the ending was rather confusing. Had TepesAllure taken over Sir Raven's account and persona or had he been changed into a digital vampire himself? The story could benefit from additional content.
This was a short but a very entertaining and fun treat. Sluggo goes into a chat room as, "Sir Raven, Master of the night." In doing so he finds a true surprise who he invites into his home (out of sarcasm). I really liked this and thought that it was well written, creative and straight forward. An absolute delight. )
